FACES OF JAPANESE IREZUMI
Faces of Japanese Irezumi is a Blurb book dedicated to the breathtaking imagery and symbolism of one of Japan’s oldest forms of art, irezumi. Literally meaning “inserting ink”, the traditional Japanese tattoo “Irezumi” is the decoration of the body with mythical beasts, flowers, leaves, and other images from stories, myths and tales. This book is a both an exploration and celebration of these mystical figures and symbols, a passion project that involved countless hours of research and formatting. It was important for the research to be exact, because this book does not just represent art or tattoos; it represents centuries of Asian culture and history.
